Analysis and Design of Vehicle Platooning Operations on Mixed-Traffic Highways

چکیده

Platooning of connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) has a significant potential for throughput improvement. However, the interaction between CAVs non-CAVs may limit practically attainable improvement due to platooning. To better understand address this limitation, we introduce new fluid model mixed-autonomy traffic flow use analyze design platoon coordination strategies. We propose tandem-link that considers randomly arriving platoons sharing highway capacity with non-CAVs. derive verifiable conditions stability by analyzing an underlying M/D/1 queuing process establishing Foster–Lyapunov drift condition model. These enable quantitative analysis under various scenarios. The is useful designing strategies maximize minimize delay. Such are provably optimal in relevant. also validate our results using standard macroscopic (cell transmission model) microscopic (simulation urban mobility) simulation models.

Heavy-Duty Vehicle Platooning – Modeling and Analysis

Coupled with the growth of world economy, the demand of freight transport has escalated and will continue to do so. As the traffic intensity increases, the pressure on infrastructure, energy usage and environment becomes higher than ever. Meanwhile, the number of traffic accidents is also increasing year by year as a result. Heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) platooning makes a group of HDVs driving clos...

IMM vehicle tracking for traffic jam situations on highways

Abstract – Classical vehicle tracking approaches for highway scenarios use a Kalman–filter with a single dynamic model optimised to a single driving manoeuvre. In contrast, the Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) filter allows for several parallel models which are combined to a weighted estimate. Choosing models for different driving modes such as constant speed, acceleration and strong accelerati...

Vehicle-to-vehicle communication for AVCS platooning

Vehicle-to-vehicle radio links suffer from power variations, multipath fading and associated Doppler spreading in frequency, as well as interference form other vehicles. These effects are investigated in the context of an Automated Vehicle Control Systems (AVCS) employing vehicle platoons. A statistical model for the channel is considered and the performance of the network involving many links ...

Analysis of Traffic Flow Variability on Two-Lane Highways

The main objective of this paper is to develop and test an approach for the spatio-temporal analysis of traffic flow variation on two lane highways. Traffic count devices located in several points of two lane highway links give the aggregate time series of data used in this approach, which is based on the Principal Components Analysis (PCA). The statistical analysis of main sources of temporal ...

Tank and Linnartz : Vehicle - to - Vehicle Communications for Avcs Platooning

Vehicle-to-vehicle radio links suffer from multipath fading and interference from other vehicles. We discuss the impact of these effects on communication networks supporting an intelligent transportation system (ITS), in particular, automated vehicle control systems (AVCS’s). A statistical model for this channel is considered, and the performance of the network involving many links is evaluated...
